Abstra t Anisotropi features of the solution of ow problems are usually approximated on anisotropi (large aspe t ratio) meshes. This paper reviews stability results of several velo ity-pressure pairs with respe t to growing aspe t ratio of the elements in the mesh. For further pairs numeri al tests are des ribed. Related results are mentioned.

We construct a simple model of an elastic material whose stiffness can be effectively controlled by an appropriately chosen set of microstructural parameters. The model is based on ideas of the scale-dependent continuum description and might play an important role in modelling of muscle tissues in biomechanics. © 2002 IMACS. Equations for bi-directional waves over an uneven bottom

This paper is centered at deriving and studying systems modeling bi-directional surface waves over an uneven or a moving bottom. Compared with the huge amount of work on model equations describing one-way propagation of water waves, much less attention has been given to Boussinesq systems describing two-way propagation of water waves, especially to the systems which are externally forced.
